The Mexican government knew it needed to settle Texas, so when a guy named Moses Austin approached them asking for permission to bring American settlers in, the mexicans approved it. Moses would die before he could bring the settlers in, but his son, Stephen F. Austin, led three hundred families into Texas. Many more would follow.

To get vocational training so they would be able to get jobs and become more secure financially, this way he advised African Americans to learn skilled trades to earn more money and improve their lives which at the end would eventually lead to African American being fully integrated and accepted as citizens.
