The correct answer is to this question is C) In the late 1800s and early 1900s, the U.S. government passed restrictions on immigration from Northern and Western Europe.

In colonial times, The United States suffered from a big amount of immigration. Basically, at the beginning of the 19th century, immigrants came to the U.S. looking for a better job. In the 17th to 19th centuries, many African slaves arrived in U.S. territory. It was until 1882 that the U.S. enacted a significant federal law limiting immigration: the Chinese Exclusion Act. In 1892, Ellis Island was the first federal immigration office in America.

In 1907, there was an increase in immigration. Although, legally. numbers reflect that 1.3 million people entered the country. That is why in 1917, Congress demanded immigrants over 16 years-old, to pass a test.

The other options of the question are A) During the 1800s, there was a decrease in the industrial world and fewer job opportunities in the US. B) In the late 1800, immigration laws were more lenient than the ones passed in the 1900s. D) During the 1800s ad early 1900s there was extreme poverty or religious and political persecution in Europe.

How did Santa Anna attempt to escape capture after the Battle of San Jacinto?
sergiy2304 [10]

Answer:

Santa Ana was caught on April 22, 1836 (the day after the Battle of San Jacinto). At the beginning of the battle he had disappeared on a horse and was found in the grass dressed as a common soldier. Some people say he was dressed as a woman however this is believed to be a myth. He was brought to Sam Houston, the leader of the Texas military, who had been injured in the ankle by a musket ball. Many Texans wished to see him hanged after what he did at the Alamo and Goliad (there were no Texan survivors at these). Houston decided he should be kept alive so he could sign the Treaties at Velasco, the treaties that would give Texas freedom from Mexico. These treaties also granted Santa Anna life. Because the Texans were so hungry for revenge, Santa Ana was released in the United States. Years later, while Texas was seeking annexation to the United States, Santa Anna became the dictator of Mexico again. He attempted to take Texas back (as Mexico renounced the Treaties at Velasco) however he was unsuccessful. He died in Mexico City, June 21, 1876.

Which groups benefited least from the reforms of the progressive era?
Paha777 [63]
As in any era where reforms happen, there are winners, and losers.

The rich, Big Business benefit the most, while the middle and lower classes benefit the least
The unions benefit in that more people are wont to join for the protection they offer, and for a fair deal.
Consumers may benefit in the short term, however as we see, prices always go up, and quality always go down.

Women, Children, and the African Americans are the least groups to benefit, or were many years ago, as they had no real champions for their cause.
Hope this helps!!!!

Q: Did John Wilkes Booth plan his escape carefully? Why did he encounter so many mishaps?

A: No, John Wilkes Booth did not plan his escape carefully. He encountered so many mishaps because he was driven by pure anger and emotion. Although he wanted to assassinate Abraham Lincoln for so long and bring other conspirators into his plan, he went through many problems with his escape and eventually died in the end by being tracked down.
