Answer:

the athletic program reduced local energy consumption and planted trees.

Explanation:

When you reduce your energy consumption, the generation of greenhouse gases will decrease. Even though a house uses electricity and not wood or coal, many times coal or other fossil fuels are used to produce electricity. By lowering its consumption, less electricity will be produced and less coal and other fossil fuels will be burnt.

By planting more trees, the total amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by them will increase. Trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen which also helps to clean the air.

Flexible Budget Report

For the Month Ended October 31, 2017

See attachment.

In flexible budgeting, the fixed costs are assumed to be constant within the relevant range.  Only the variable costs are flexed.

Workings:

1. Sales Commission = $1,680/8,400 x 9,000 = $1,800

2. Advertising = $1,176/8400 x 9,000 = $1,260

3. Travel Expense = $4,032/8,400 x 9,000 = $4,320

4. Free Samples = $1,680/8,400 x 9,000 = $1,800

Explanation:

The flexible budget is one that flexes the activity level or volume in order to recognize changes that may arise.  This changes the base volume of the variable costs.

To achieve this, the value under the static budget is divided by the static budget volume and multiplied by the flexed budget volume(s).

In this case, when the budget was flexed from the static sales volume of 8,400 to 9,000 in accordance with the actual volume achieved, the favorable value was increased from $1,188 to $1,800 more than 50% increase.

The implication is that a flexible budget helps to better evaluate performance than its opposite, the static budget.

Suppose the price of gasoline decreases from $4.20 to $2.00, and in response quantity demanded increases from 10600 to 11200. Us
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

0.079

Explanation:

Price elasticity of demand using midpoint formula can be calculated as follows

Formula

Elasticity of demand = (change in quantity/average quantity)/(change in price/average price)

Calculation

Elasticity of demand = (600/10,900)/(-2.1/3.05)

Elasticity of demand =-0.055 / -0.688

Elasticity of demand =-0.079

working

Change in price (2-4.1) = -2.1

Average price (2+4.1)/2=3.05

Change in quantity (11,200-10600) = 600

average quantity (11,200+10,600)/2 = 10,900

The elasticity of demand is inelastic as the elasticity is below 1.
