The fact of not using violence as a form of struggle does not mean that these movements have not been repressed by the authorities. On the contrary, its leaders were persecuted, arrested and repressed. One of the biggest peaceful mobilizations was known as the "March of Salt", which was a walk of approximately 500 km led by Gandhi towards the sea with the aim of producing the salt itself to contest the English monopoly on the product. The British reaction was the arrest of Gandhi and people who supported the march. It is important to highlight that not resisting repression is also part of the disobedience strategies, as it is a kind of demoralization of the government and its repressive system.
