Mathematics

Answer:

u - v = 17i  -13j

Step-by-step explanation:

Rewrite u=9i-9j and v=-8i 4j  vertically:

u=9i-9j

v=-8i + 4j

We want to subtract the second equation from the first:

u=9i-9j

v=-8i + 4j

-----------

u - v = 17i  -13j

Note:  I assumed that a " + " sign precedes 4j in the second equation.

Let r = rental, g = gas, m = miles
r1 + g1 + 0.25m = r2 + g2 + 0.35m now plug in and solve for m
40 + 15 + 0.25m = 45 + 0.35m
55 - 45 = 0.35m - 0.25m
10 = 0.1m
100 = m
 for 100 miles the cost will be the same
now to find the cost
0.25m plug in 100 for m
0.25(100) = 80
for the course of 100 miles the cost will be $80

The area is (2x + 15) square centimeters.
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

Area\:shaded=\frac{3}{5} (2x+15)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let s be the shaded area and u be the unshaded area, then we know that

(1).  \frac{s}{u}=\frac{3}{2}

and

(2).   s+u=(2x+15)

We solve for u in the first equation and get:

u=\frac{2}{3}s

and put this into the second equation and get:

s+\frac{2}{3}s=(2x+15)

s(1+\frac{2}{3} )=(2x+15)

s(\frac{5}{3}  )=(2x+15)

\boxed{s=\frac{3}{5} (2x+15)}

This is pretty weird: ax+ b > c is equivalent to ax + b > 0, for instance. c might always be chosen as zero, or b, or any value!

280x <= 348.76, or -280x + 348.76 >= 0,

so a = -280, b = 348.76 and c = 0 is one solution
