Why do many historians regard the printing press as the most important invention of the past millennium?
xz_007 [3.2K]
Much of history would be lost forever if it wasn't written down. Doing it by hand is tedious and not very consistent. Besides the ink fades off over time with some cases. With the printing press, it's much more clear and consistent to read. Also the printing press allowed for anyone to get access to books. Before it was the elite that could only get access.

Under the articles of confederation, the colonies experienced a severe depression
kifflom [539]
This should be false. Under the articles, the states were acceptably stable. The problem was that the national government its self was weak and had no money as they had no authority to tax the states. This change with the constitution which still keep the states as states but adhered much more to the new, divided government that did have the authority to impose a national tax on states. This also brought a bigger sense of unity within the states over time and the national governments strength would grow over time. Hope this helps or answered the question/statement.<span />

What goal did the U.S. have fighting in vietnam
viktelen [127]
Hey there!

Their goal was to fight and Vietnam and win, as in any other war for the US. This was because of something very important called the Domino Effect, created by Dwight D Eisenhower, which stated that if one country adopted communism, other countries surrounding it and eventually the world would start too.

The US couldn't have communism spread. That's why we were enemies with the Soviets and created a trade embargo on Cuba in 1960. Our goal was to get rid of communism once and for all.

However, on March 29th, 1973, when  President Nixon withdrew all remaining troops from Vietnam, leaving America's first defeat, the Domino Effect could have happened and been quite bad. However, it did not spread around Indo-China, and few countries use communism today.

Hope this helps!
