The correct answer is: "There is a situation or shortage or of excess demand".

Rationing is an allocation system that is adopted in an economy when the amount produced cannot serve the whole demand and there is no price adjustment. This was the case during WWII. A possible rationing strategy could be "first come, first serve", for example or dividing the total output between the population and allocating a fixed ration for each person.

Because they were expensive to produce.

Further Explanation:

Rationing during the period of world war 2 was the mean of ensuring that there was a fair distribution of food and commodities equally among people. During that period, Rationing started with Petrol and after some time commodities such as butter, Sugar and Bacon were also rationed. The reason behind rationing was because such commodities were expensive to produce. Redeemable stamps were issued by the Government during world war 2 and these stamps were issued to every family based on its size and income of the family. The reason behind this rationing system was the idea of the British Government in which it took the future into consideration that people may starve for food during a time of war and local production of food was limited due to a large number of men fighting in the war.

Not only Britain, Almost every country which was part of world war 2, Did food rationing. The Soviet Union did food rationing between 1941 to 1947. Bread distribution before 1941 was around 800 grams per person but by 1941, bread rations were reduced to 250 grams and then further reduced to 125 grams and that caused in a lot of deaths due to starvation.

What military strategy defeated Cornwallis at Yorktown?
Andrew [12]
It is said that someone in the woods fire their gun three times hide until all the soldiers came toward them then surprised attacked the soldiers that came to the woods to check where the firing came from. Then again this is just a rumor, I don't necessarily know what exactly happened but you should get at least an idea of what happened.
