C. Poems are written to evoke emotions in readers.

Further Explanation:

Poetry is undoubtedly a form of art, through which the poet conveys his thoughts, emotions, and questions on a particular topic to his or her readers. Poems are written in such a way so that they evoke some emotion among the readers, and to create a reaction within them. This reaction among the readers can differ from reader to reader depending on the interpretation of the verses of the poem. Poems are replete with several literary devices that enhance the meaning of the poem. The poet uses a typical structure within which the poem is written, and this structure also helps in evoking a response from the reader. The language and tone used in the poem work a great deal towards conveying the poet’s feelings while the poem was composed. It has to be understood that poems do not need to follow a particular pattern of rhyme, but it can vary from poem to poem. The poem may contain verses called lyrics, which is common in ballads, sonnets and musical poetry.

Every poem follows a significant pattern, which depends on the purpose for which the poem was written. However, not all poems follow a significant rhyme pattern. Poetry can also be free-flowing, without having any significant rhyming patterns. For example, a sonnet is composed of fourteen lines, while a ballad is a long poem, usually having a significant lyrical rhythm and meter. It is not necessary, that every poem has to contain a plethora of literary devices. On the other hand, a poem can contain several literary devices at once within its structure, which is often to give a clear expression of the poet’s feelings and emotions during the time of the composition of the poem.

Poems are written to evoke emotions in readers is the most accurate. All writing is used to create some type of response from the readers even if it's merely to gain knowledge. Poetry especially is designed to create an emotional response. This is because poetry often uses the most concise language possible to not only convey it's subject but also the speaker's feelings toward the subject.

Wrong Answers

All poems do not have a rhyme pattern. A rhyming pattern exists when there is purposeful rhyme between lines that often follows a structure. For example, Shakespearean sonnets follow a very clear rhyme scheme ABAB CDCD EFEF GG. However, this is not required for something to be considered a poem. In fact, free verse poetry is poetry that follows no structure at all. It has no rhyming pattern, no meter, and no structure.

Poetry does not have to contain similes or metaphors. A simile is a comparison between two things with using like or as: The girl ran like a cheetah. A metaphor is a comparison between two things without using like or as: The girl was a cheetah running down the track. Some poems contain none of these types of figurative language while other poems are an extended metaphor in themselves.

Poetry is made up of verses called lyrics. Lyric poetry is made up of different verses and often has a very clear rhyme and meter. This is just one form of poetry, but it can not be applied to all poetry. Meter is the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables within a line of poetry. Shakespeare often wrote his poetry in iambic pentameter. This is a pattern of 10 syllables per line of poetry alternating stressed and unstressed syllables.

“....A wretched sylph too fondly (interposed), Fate urged the shears, and cut the sylph in twain."
lilavasa [31]

The answer is: C.) interfered.

In the passage from Alexander Pope's "The R*pe of the Lock ," the word interposed means to intervene between two parties. As a consequence, the word which comes closer in meaning is interfered, which implies taking part or intervening in an activity without invitation or necessity.

The rest of the choices are incorrect because object is used to express disapproval, flee suggests escaping from a dangerous situation, and revive means to restore to life or consciousness.
