Answer:

The profit for one small cake is £1.31.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that that Gina sells 216 cakes in the ratio small:medium:large 5:7:12.

5+7+12=24

Number of small cakes = 216\times \frac{5}{24}=45

Number of medium cakes = 216\times \frac{7}{24}=63

Number of large cakes = 216\times \frac{12}{24}=108

The profit for one medium cake is twice the profit for one small cake. The profit for one large cake is three times the profit for one small cake.

Let the profit for one small cake be x. So the profit for one medium and large cake are 2x and 3x respectively.

Her total profit id £648.45.

45\times x+63\times 2x+108\times 3x=648.45

45x+126x+324x=648.45

496x=648.45

Divide both sides 496.

\frac{496x}{496}=\frac{648.45}{496}

x=1.30735887097

x\approx 1.31

Therefore the profit for one small cake is £1.31.

To answer this question you need to first set up the small, medium, large number of cakes as a ratio with a total. From here you will create a new ratio of the correct number of small medium and large Cakes sold using the total 216. The factor would be to multiply by nine. -Step 1 in picture. After this you would read what the relationship is between a medium and a small and the large and the small profits are - Step 2 in picture. After this you would represents the total profit based on the number of small medium and large cakes that were sold. Making this equal to L648.45. To find the profit for one small, you would then divide 648.45 by the 495 you got when you simplify the expression. The answer is L1.31.

Can someone tell me how
gulaghasi [49]

the way I get the subsequent term, nevermind the exponents, the exponents part is easy, since one is decreasing and another is increasing, but the coefficient, to get it, what I usually do is.

multiply the current coefficient by the exponent of the first-term, and divide that by the exponent of the second-term + 1.

so if my current expanded term is say 7a³b⁴, to get the next coefficient, what I do is (7*3)/5   <----- notice, current coefficient times 3 divided by 4+1.

anyhow, with that out of the way, lemme proceed in this one.

\bf ~~~~~~~~\textit{binomial theorem expansion} \\\\ \qquad \qquad (1+ax)^n\implies \begin{array}{llll} term&coefficient&value\\ \cline{1-3}&\\ 1&+1&(1)^n(ax)^0\\\\ 2&+\frac{(1)(n)}{1}\to n&(1)^{n-1}(ax)^1\\\\ 3&+\frac{n\cdot (n-1)}{2}&(1)^{n-2}(ax)^2 \end{array}

so, following that to get the next coefficient, we get those equivalents as you see there for the 2nd and 3rd terms.

so then, we know that the expanded 2nd term is 24x therefore

\bf n(1)^{n-1}(ax)1 = 24x\implies n(1)(ax)=24x\implies nax=24x\implies n=\cfrac{24}{a}

we also know that the expanded 3rd term is 240x², therefore we can say that

\bf \cfrac{n(n-1)}{2}~~(1)^{n-2}(ax)^2 = 240x^2\implies \cfrac{n(n-1)}{2}(1)(a^2x^2) = 240x^2 \\\\\\ \cfrac{(n^2-n)(a^2x^2)}{2}=240x^2\implies \cfrac{(n^2-n)(a^2)}{2}=\cfrac{240x^2}{x^2}\implies \cfrac{a^2n^2-a^2n}{2}=240 \\\\\\ a^2n^2-a^2n=480

but but but, we know what "n" equals to, recall above, so let's do some quick substitution

\bf a^2n^2-a^2n=480\qquad \boxed{n=\cfrac{24}{a}}\qquad a^2\left( \cfrac{24}{a} \right)^2-a^2\left( \cfrac{24}{a} \right)=480 \\\\\\ a^2\cdot \cfrac{24^2}{a^2}-24a=480\implies 24^2-24a=480\implies 576-24a=480 \\\\\\ -24a=-96\implies a=\cfrac{-96}{-24}\implies \blacktriangleright a = 4\blacktriangleleft \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill\\\\ n=\cfrac{24}{a}\implies n=\cfrac{24}{4}\implies \blacktriangleright n=6 \blacktriangleleft

9. Which lines are parallel if m&lt;4 = m&lt;5? Justify your answer.
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

lines r and s

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

<u><em>Alternate interior angles</em></u> are formed when a transversal passes through two lines. The angles that are formed on opposite sides of the transversal and inside the two lines are alternate interior angles.

When the lines are parallel, the alternate interior angles are equal

so

In this problem

If lines r and s are parallel

then

m∠4=m∠5 ----> by alternate interior angles

What is the value of x?
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:  x = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, RTS is the equilateral triangle.

Thus, RT= TS = SR

And, \angle TRS = \angle RTS = \angle RST = 60^{\circ} ( By the property of the equilateral triangle.)

Here, Given  ∠ RST =  (7 x + 4)°

And, ∠ RTS = (8y +12)°

Therefore, (7 x + 4)° = 60°

⇒ 7 x = 56

⇒ x = 8
