Answer:

1. Yo conocí a mi esposa en el año 2008 (preterite)

2. Mis padres querían que yo estudiara ingeniería. (imperfect)

3. Supe que estabas triste apenas te ví. (preterite)

4. Cuando era joven, yo podía comer mucho y no engordar. (imperfect)

5.  Tú no querías vivir en una ciudad grande.  (imperfect)

Explanation:

In Spanish, the preterite is a grammatical tense used to describe absolute events or completed actions at a point in the past; things that took place on specific days or dates, specific times or time periods and events in a sequence. To conjugate a regular verb in preterite, we have to remove the infinitive ending (-ar, -er, -ir) and add the preterite ending depending on the pronoun. The endings are the following.

Subject                                -ar verbs                 -er and -ir verbs

Yo                                             -é                                 -í

Tú                                             -aste                            -iste

Él, ella, usted                           -ó                                 -ió

nosotros                                  -amos                          -imos

vosotros                                  -asteis                          -isteis

ellos, ellas, ustedes               -aron                            -ieron

**Conjugation of irregular verbs varies.

On the other hand, the imperfect tense is used to describe habitual or continuous actions in the past, and for past actions that did not have a definite beginning or end.

To conjugate a regular verb in the imperfect tense, we have to remove the infinitive ending (-ar, -er, -ir) and add the imperfect ending depending on the pronoun. The endings are the following.

Subject                                -ar verbs                 -er and -ir verbs

Yo                                             -aba                                 -ía

Tú                                             -abas                               -ías

Él, ella, usted                           -aba                                 -ía

nosotros                                  -ábamos                          -íamos

vosotros                                  -abais                              -íais

ellos, ellas, ustedes               -aban                               -ían

**Conjugation of irregular verbs varies.

Elenna [48]

Answer:

"ser" and "estar", these two verbs differ on the condition of permanency of that what is being explained in the sentence.

It is better to use "ser" when you are expressing something that will be permanent, or most likely will be permanent.

it is better to use "estar" to express something that is likely to end in a short or medium term.

sometimes the verbs are interchangeable, in such cases is not needed to explain the length of the state expressed by the sentence.

The third sentence in the questions uses the literal translation from the English present continuous time to the Spanish "présente continuo"
