Mound Builders lived in North Amerika. They were people who built mounds over vast areas ranging from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and some found in the Mississippi River to the Appalachian.

EXPLANATION

The origin of the mound is not known clearly. Many people consider it mysterious. Europeans consider that Native Americans were not that advanced to carry out this extraordinary development. Then the term "Builder Mound" developed to name those who built the mound.

In North American archeology, there was a group of people called Mound Builders. Mound Builders were people who built mounds over vast areas ranging from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Some of the mounds were found in the Mississippi River region to the Appalachian. The biggest mounds were found in Ohio and the Mississippi valley.

Archaeologists point out that the mounds in North America were built over a long period of time by various walks of life, from peasants who lived to settlers to movers. This prehistoric mound had various forms and functions. Among its functions were as a cemetery, monument, or temple as a place of worship.

In 1894, Cyrus Thompson of the Smithsonian Institution researched the issue. He concluded that the Mound was indeed built by Native Americans. Clarence Moore who also dug many mound sites in the South believed that the construction of the Mound in the south was strongly influenced by the Mesoamerican civilization.
