The governments of potugal and spain colonized most of south America. Although portugal was never considered a big world power, but they were far superior than others in terms of power in the seas. Portugal had the best ships and the most advanced ship builders at that time. With time that power started fading and the power of spain started rising. The major part of brazil was colonised by the portugese. During the 15th century portugal was the leading nation in terms of European exploration of the world. they were ahead of others in respect of discovering new lands.

Answer:

This refers to your quotation regarding the new Weaving Machine which you want to sell to us. I am afraid I will not be interested to purchase it for the following reasons

1. The price of the machine is too high for the output that you claim it gives. I do not have such a large amount of money to invest in it.

2. I already have labourers doing the work by hand. There is no shortage of labour in the market and they are efficient.

3. Since the requirement is seasonal and I can lay off the workmen when work is not there, I save money at that time. The machine will always remain with me and I will always be paying interest on the loan to be taken for purchasing it, whether I am using the machine or not.

4. The machine can produce only standardized cloth, whereas different customers demand different designs. This, I can supply easily if the cloth is handmade.

5. Further, I have heard that in case the machine breaks down, it is very costly and time consuming to repair it, thus creating more problems in supply and finance for me.

For the above reasons, I regret I will not be in a position to purchase the machine offered by you.

What is the power distribution in Venezuela today? Why are there protests in the streets?
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:CARACAS, Venezuela — Thousands of opposition supporters marched to central Caracas on Saturday, defying a government ban on rallies in the Venezuelan capital’s core and testing a heavy police presence as the country struggled to emerge from its worst blackout in recent memory.

Clashes between the police and protesters were reported early in the day, but a cordon of officers stepped aside to allow the demonstrators to rally and hear from the opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

“We have to conquer public spaces in a peaceful manner,” Mr. Guaidó, standing atop a car, declared through a megaphone. “We have to prepare ourselves for very tough times.”

Power was intermittent in Caracas on Saturday, two days after the country went dark, and it remained off in large portions of the country’s west. Much of the country’s telecommunications network was offline after another power failure on Saturday, according to NetBlocks, an internet monitoring group. State utility workers say it will take days to fully restore the national grid.

Thomas Hobbes and John Locke

Most especially the American founding fathers looked to the ideas of John Locke. Thomas Hobbes had pointed to the social contract as the source of a government's authority, but his argument in Leviathan (1651) still supported a strong monarch style of government for the sake of a country's security and stability. Locke's arguments in his Second Treatise on Civil Government (1689) were more focused on the authority of majority voting in a society and republican government through legislatures.
