The new generation of New Englanders started to pay attention and dedicated to new forms of businesses not only farming. Puritanism was no as hard as it used to be in the 1630s and people did not live their lives on the strict rigid rules of religion.  That is why the outlook of the New Englanders in the 1670s different from the 1630s in that stern religious beliefs had less influence over the new generation of farmers and merchants.
