What is metafiction? the act of telling a story becomes part of the story literature that is part true and part false when an author begins a story in the middle of the storyline***my answer literature that appears as fiction but is actually non-fiction

Metafiction is when the work alludes to the fact that it is a story. Essentially the story recognizes and draws attention to the fact that it is a work of fiction. It's usually used to make the reader think about storytelling itself. It is pretty much the literary equivalent of breaking the fourth wall.
