Meter is the pattern of rythm, which is the way in which the syllables are organized within a poem to form what is known as the beat. It is basically the way that the reader is intended to read the words, the rapidity with which the poem will flow, so that the reader can understand the meaning given by the author. Almost like in music. Meter is also known as a foot in poetry and each of them has a specific number of syllables to each of them. The difference in rythm in a poem comes from the way in which one or another syllable are accented or they are not. Examples of meter are: the iamb meter, the trochee meter and the dactyl meter.
