I left the countryside twelve years ago when my father was transferred to an artillery division in Dalian. Ever since then we ha

ve lived in the city. If my aunt were not in Dismount Fort, I might have forgotten that small town where I went to elementary school only for two years in the late 1960s. My aunt comes to visit us every fall, helping Mother prepare our winter clothes and pickle vegetables. Once in a while she brings that town back to my memory. Answer:

If my aunt were not in Dismount Fort, I might have forgotten that small town <u>where I went to elementary school only for two years in the late 1960s.</u>

Explanation:

An adjective clause is a group of words with at least a verb and a subject that does not express a complete thought (they're dependent clauses) and whose function is to modify nouns; These type of clauses usually begin with a relative pronoun (who, whom, whose, that, which) or a relative adverb (when, where, why).

So, in the sentence selected, the adjective clause is <u>"where I went to elementary school only for two years in the late 1960s"</u> because it is a dependent clause (it does not express a complete thought on its own), it modifies or describes the noun phrase "that small town" and it begins with the relative adverb "when."

A major difference between the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original story "The Adventure of the Speckled Band" and its film version relates to the story's setting. In the original story, we see Holmes and Watson meeting with Helen Stoner in their shared 221B Baker Street apartment. In the film, Holmes works in a modern office equipped with the latest technology. However, the setting of the crime scene is the same in the original story and in the film. It takes place at Stoke Moran. The Adventure of the Speckled Band tells one of the cases of the detective Sherlock Holmes, the investigation of a mysterious death and the suspicioun that someone else might die under the same circumstances. Both the book and the adaptation follow the plot, diverging mostly on the resources Holmes has at his disposal, like a mordern office with secretaries in the adaptation and only a simple apartment in the book.
