Answer: Many of the communists rooted out by McCarthy and his allies were spies or had ties to Russia. Alger Hiss is one of these spies, but was convicted rather for perjuring himself on this charge. I believe he (McCarthy) was right in doing what he did, as rather than allowing such people to take root in our government, he fought back against them.
A democracy works under meeting and exercise the government in person, while a republic is the meeting and agreements of the citizens. They assemble and administrate to keep the discussion civil.
