Homer and his people stop and rest with the Lotus Eaters and are then given some of the fruit that is produced by the lotus. Once they eat they keep eating.

The story of the Lotus-eaters is found in Odysseus's tale to the Phaeacians in book 9. per mythical being, Zeus sent a storm and blew them afar for 9 days, before they landed on the island of the Lotus-eaters. There the locals gave them some fruit from the lotus plant. once the lads Greek deity this fruit, they lost all want to create it back home.
