The medical assistant should approach the patient in a calm and professional manner. It is best to try and understand the patient’s feelings whether she feels irritated and impatient as the doctor hasn’t arrived yet, the medical assistant should try to calm the patient and try to explain as to why the doctor is running late and to give her an apology regarding the situation.
