Answer:

I honestly would go with D. Reflective

Explanation:

I unfortunately did persuasive (which is the wrong answer), but in all honesty "Mother Tongue" is a personal essay, so the best answers would either be D. Reflective or C. Bias.

C is a bit out there though... just because it's a personal essay doesn't mean it's biased as well XD Best of luck, let me know if you got it right!

Which two phrases in this excerpt from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe help establish the setting?
BartSMP [9]

Answer: '<em>Once upon a midnight dreary'</em> and '<em>Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December' </em>help establish the setting.

Explanation:

The setting is a literary element that provides us with the information about the time and/or place in which a particular story happens.

In Edgar Allan Poe's <em>The Raven,</em> the setting is explained in the first line of the poem, where the narrator tells us that the story takes place at night (around midnight). Moreover, the word <em>'dreary'</em> indicates that the atmosphere is depressing.

In the following line: <em>'Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December', </em>the narrator provides more information by telling us that the event that he is about to describe took place in December.

What an 1884 word for women?
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

1884 was the year that Charles C. Converse announced that he had coined thon, a gender-neutral pronoun, by blending that and one. Thon could refer both to men and women, and it would come in handy in cases where gender is unknown, or irrelevant, or where it needs to be concealed.
