You can really help identify your audience by you tone and overall mood of the story. especially the theme is a big one. You want your audience to connect with your theme in order for theme to be interested. That's why your first sentence of your intro is super important. Focus on not writing 'you' language, because you want to have an open audience and not categorize it. Just make sure you really use emotion and don't ask questions for your hook cause asking a question sometimes limits your audience.
