The cause and effect word in sentence (3) is result. The word result can mean "because of this...this is the result." In this text, sentence (1) explains the issue/cause, the Chinese policy that only allows one child per family. And as a result horrible effects take place. Sentence (2) expresses the first effect and sentence (3) uses the word result to signify that this is an effect of the cause, but more specifically, the sentence uses the phrase another result to imply that this is an effect on top of other effects.

Reread lines 20-21. What is the meaning of these lines in terms
of Whitman's extended metaphor?
Sliva [168]

Answer:

In "O Captain My Captain" by Whitman, The extended metaphor of the poem compares President Lincoln to a captain steering the "ship of state" which means guiding the union through the civil war.

Explanation:

An extended metaphor means; A metaphor that unfolds across multiple lines or paragraphs of a text, making use of multiple interrelated metaphors in an overarching one. The "captain' of the title however, becomes less essential to the progressive success and unity of the nation as it seemed in the beginning. because at first the "captain" (President Lincoln) is seen as entirely responsible for the safe return of the ship home.

But, the citizens continue to rejoice after their captain has fallen, they did not let the grief of the assassination on the president stop them from continuing their celebration as well as moving on with their lives.

Where are Dennis, Mac, Jeremiah, and Anna heading to at the beginning of the text? End of the Road #7
7nadin3 [17]

At the beginning of the text, Dennis, Mac, Jeremiah, and Anna are heading towards Petey Coltrain's radio station.

We can arrive at this answer because:

 • "End of the Road," tells the story of a group of friends who end up being chased by a group of zombies.
 • They start the story by trying to reach a radio station.
 • One of these friends, Anna, is attacked by zombies and ends up being bitten by them.

Anna progressively becomes a zombie after the attack. Her friends are very scared of her, as they know that zombies are irrational and violent. However, Jeremiah decides to continue having contact with her while she is still human.
