We know the terms in this geometric sequence are 3, -3/4, 3/16 and so on.

now.. what's the "r" or common ratio?  well, in a geometric sequence, to get the next term's value you multiply by "r", therefore, if you divide any of those values, by the value before it, the quotient will be, yes, you guessed it, "r".

namely say a, a*b.... now (a*b)/a is just b, the quotient is the value you used as multiplier.

\bf -\cfrac{3}{4}\div 3\implies -\cfrac{3}{4}\div \cfrac{3}{1}\implies -\cfrac{3}{4}\cdot \cfrac{1}{3}\implies -\cfrac{1}{4}

any other two pair of values will spit out the same "r".

now, the Sum of a geometric sequence reaches a limit or point, that is converges, only if the value of "r" is a fraction and more than -1 or less than 1, negative or positive.

or in short, if | r | < 1.

now, in this case, -1/4 is indeed more than -1 and less than 0, therefore, the Sum of the sequence is convergent, it meets at a limit.

Answer:

For the answer to the question above,

the Order the set of numbers from least to greatest: square root 64, 8 and 1 over 7, 8.14 repeating 14, 15 over 2

15 over 2, square root 64, 8 1 over 7, 8.14 repeating 14.

What is the y value of the vertex of the function f(x)=-(x-3)(x+11)
AnnyKZ [126]

Answer:

49

Step-by-step explanation:

Because there is a minus sign infront of x-3, we can convert x-3 into the negative form:

- * x

- * -3

-x + 3

Which gives us:

(-x + 3)(x + 11)

Now expand the brackets with the formula:

(a + b)(c + d) = ac + ad + bc + bd

-x * x = -x²

-x * 11 = -11x

3 * x = 3x

3 * 11 = 33

-x² - 11x + 3x + 33

-x² - 8x + 33

The formula for finding the x coordinate of a vertex in a quadratic equation is:

x = \frac{-b}{2a}

Plug known variables in:

x = \frac{-(-8)}{2(-1)}

x = \frac{8}{-2}

x = -4

Now, to find the y coordinate, plug this variable back into the quadratic equation:

-x² - 8x + 33

y = -(-4^2) - (32) + 33\\y = -16 + 32 + 33\\\\

y = 49

So the y coordinate of the vertex is 49.

Hope this helps!
