I think the correct answer would be haughty as haughty means proud and somewhat arrogant.
And throughout the speech we can see that he is very proud of his nation and that he vows that no one shall perish in his nation.
For example he says conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.Here he says how his nation was created as a better place for men to live.
