Sushruta was an Indian doctor and surgeon. He wrote the Sushruta-samjita, who together with the Charaka-samjita of Charaka, founded the aiurveda, the traditional medicine of India.

He was an outstanding surgeon in rhinoplasty techniques, cataract extraction and dental procedures, being the first to leave a written record of surgery operations. In addition, in the area of medicine, he made the first descriptions of diabetes, angina, obesity and high blood pressure.
