The Electoral process for the presidency.

The delegates embraced the electoral college instead of creating a direct presidential voting process. This system was based on republican principles so as to mitigate against the shortcomings of a democracy. The delegates wanted a better system that mitigated against the pitfalls of a direct democracy.

Answer:

D.) The Electoral process for the presidency

Explanation:

During the Constitucional Convention of 1787 that was held in Philadelphia, the 55 delegates decided on many subjects such as the powers of Congress. They decided about the issue of representation of small and bigger states, the Convention denied vote for slaves by allowed them as 3/5 persons for the purpose of representation.

Later, they debated over the electoral process for the presidency, the delegates considered many methods of elections. This was one of the most difficult decisions of the Constitucional Convention. The delegates did not want to choose a direct election method and because of that, they chose the electoral college system.
