What is allegory?

A narrative or visual representation in which a person, place, or thing might be understood to reflect a hidden meaning with moral or political significance is known as an allegory. This literary device or artistic form is used to convey a message. The use of allegory by authors to depict or communicate difficult ideas and concepts in a fashion that is clear or compelling to its viewers, readers, or listeners has been practiced throughout history in all forms of art.

Authors and speakers frequently employ allegories to communicate (semi-)hidden or complicated meanings through symbolic figures, acts, imagery, or events that collectively produce the moral, spiritual, or political message the author seeks to express. Personifying abstract notions is a common technique in allegories.
