<span>federal troops On May 17, 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its Brown v. Board of Education decision declaring segregated schools to be unconstitutional. After some issues, Arkansas would integrate the Little Rock Central high school in 1957 with the rest of the high schools and junior high schools to follow in 1960 through 1963. However, on Sept 4, 1957, the governor Orval Faubus had the Arkansas National Guard support segregation and prevent the 9 black students from entering the high school. On Sept 24, 1957 President Eisenhower ordered the 101st Airborne Division (without its black soldiers) to Little Rock. On that same day he federalized the Arkansas National Guard in order to take them out of the hands of Governor Faubus.</span>
