The entire infinitive phrase in this sentence is to point out your responsibilities as a dedicated student. If you only need the infinitive, that would to to point out - but a phrase is usually longer and entails words after the infinitive as well. Infinitives are relatively easy to spot - they are formed by adding the word TO in front of the verb itself.

The phrase is used as a noun in this sentence - as a direct object of the verb to wish, to be more precise. You can easily determine this by asking What do I wish? To point out.... Even though to point out is obviously a verb, the way it is used in this sentence (direct object) makes it a noun in this context.

Answer:

B) Repetition

Explanation:

Repetition is a rhetorical device that repeats the same words and/or phrases or even full sentences in order to make a stronger impression and put an accent to what a writer considers to be the most important idea in the text. Its use is common in both prose and poetry.

Examples of repetition in the given excerpt are: One hundred years later and Negro as both of them repeat 3 times.

Why did Mrs. Putnam ask Ruth to get Tituba to take the girls into the forest on the evening before Betty and Ruth became sick/un
antoniya [11.8K]

Answer: Mrs. Putnam has lost a number of babies-- (nowadays it might be stillbirth or SIDS) She hopes that Ruth can have Tituba conjure the spirits of the babies.

Explanation: Tituba is a servant to Betty's father. She comes from Barbados where they have different dances and rituals. The girls seem to join in for fun, but there seems to be a spiritual aspect to her practices that the Puritans regard as satanic.
