Rene Descartes is frequently considered the first modern philosopher. His first publication, Discourse on Method (1637), was the touchstone of the scientific method. A response to the lack of clarity he saw in the world of science, Discourse describes how scientific study should be prosecuted so as to achieve the utmost clarity, by using deductive reasoning to test hypotheses. Descartes explained that the test of an alleged truth is the clarity with which it may be apprehended, or proven. "I think, therefore I am," (cogito ergo sum) is Descartes' famous example of the most clearly apprehended truth. In effect, the evidence of thought proves the hypothesis of existence.

In therory at least objects approaching too close to solar mass black hole will be stretched out along direction of their fall t
navik [9.2K]

It is because a black hole is so powerful, that nothing can escape it. Not even light itself can escape a black hole… Therefore, it’s called a black hole. So if Light cannot escape it, and light speed is 186,000 mi./s, then no object, no matter the size can escape it if it gets anywhere near the vicinity, And to answer your question more specifically, the power of the black hole stretches the object as it approaches and pretty much tears it into pieces as it is sucked into infinity. They call it a singularity.

QUESTION 6
san4es73 [151]

Answer: question 6 is “c” to defend member nations against Soviet expansion and aggression.

Question 7 is a little more difficult because while America did want to spread democratic values, they also wanted a bulwark against Soviet expansion. I would probably say “d” in this case.

Explanation: The Soviets had already moved into Asia at the end of WWII, taking several of Japans processions, which included parts of N. Korea and Japanese islands. They had joined the war against Japan, answering a request from the US for assistance. It was important that the US not abandon Japan after WWII since there’s a good chance the Soviets would’ve moved in just as they did in parts of Asia and East Europe.
