I'm going to be neutral on the first one, as communism did in fact spread a little bit, but with the US's efforts to contain the spread (I.e denying the USSR help with Japan) at least it didn't spread more. As for My Lai, I definitely think it's a war crime and atrocity. So many were killed, and the people in charge of it were mostly unpunished.
