Explain the logic behind early Christianity’s syncretism—adoption of pagan ideas and practices into the new religion.

Introducing Christianity into pagan communities was a long and difficult process because that societies had their own culture and religion that was usually very strong and vital. People don't change their beliefs and habits quickly, especially when they don't want the new ones. Introducing Christianity was always a decision of the leader (e.g. king) who wanted to strenghten his international position. Due to it, elements from old religion were combined with Christianity what made new religion more acceptable for the people.
