That statement is true

When presidents are elected with popular mandate, it is very easy for the presidents to pass any laws that he/she wants because their sheer popularity would give overwhelming public support that put pressure for the opposition to conform.

Since Kennedy was elected by a slim margin, a large portion of public still oppose his policies during earlier years of his presidency. This make it easy for his opposition to limit his movement so he can't pass the policy that he wants.

How did speculators take advantage of the Homestead Act? by catering to new markets by promising homesteaders a reliable link to
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

by creating phony claims

Explanation:

In the United States, the Homestead Act of 1862 mandated that any adult or intended citizen, who had never carry arms against the U.S. government could possess 160 acres of surveyed government land. However, the requirement to acquire the land completely is for the citizens to develop the land by being a resident and carrying out agricultural activities on the land.

However, the speculators at the time, instead of meeting the requirements honestly, they were involved in fraudulent practices by creating phony claims. This is done by building small structures on the land to meet the requirements

How did Louisiana churches respond to the Great Depression?
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

The correct answer is b) They prepared free meals and collected clothing for people in need.

Explanation:

The Great Depression had hit every part of the country and Louisiana, which was at the time a comparatively a poor part of America, had many of it's own problems.

Unemployment was rising and people were finding it difficult to have basic meals every day. As winters approached, many families had to make do without any shelter or clothing.

The Churches in Louisiana stepped in to support thousands of people in this time of need. Throughout the State, they opened soup kitchens to feed the needy and distributed warm clothing for the elderly and the infants.
