Before it was established, two-four year terms were common because president Washington popularized it by his choice to do so. This was however never a written law, when the 22nd Amendment was created it was due to the fact President Roosevelt won four terms.

Hope this helped! :)

How are officers in the executive branch selected in Oklahoma?
viva [34]

In order to be elected governor, any gubernatorial candidate is required to obtain a statewide plurality of votes cast in their election. Given the dominance of the two-party system in Oklahoma (between the Democrats and the Republicans), the plurality is often a majority as well. However, in case the event that two or more candidates have an equal number of votes, the state legislature, by joint ballot, elects one of those candidates governor.

The constitution names the governor the state's chief magistrate and vested in him the supreme executive power. As a consequence, the governor is the preeminent figure in Oklahoma politics. Though he or she shares power with many other executive officers, in the event of a vacancy anywhere in the executive branch, he or she appoints their successor. The governor appoints the heads of state departments and agencies as well as the members of most state commissioners and boards. However, these appointments do require Senate approval. Some serve at his or her pleasure while others serve fixed terms.

What did Germany do in 1941 that promised NOT to do in 1938?
Vaselesa [24]

Answer: President Paul Hindenberg, to offer Hitler the position of chancellor as a way of bringing the Nazis into a coalition government of right-wing parties that lacked a mass base. They feared that otherwise Germany, suffering massive unemployment and social distress, would fall under the control of socialists and Communists. They thought that the Nazis were just another right-wing, nationalist party and that Hitler would be 'tamed' by power. But Hitler had a radical ideology that went beyond restoring Germany's national pride. The new chancellor wanted to reconstruct Germany on a racial basis, and believed that Germany had to conquer other countries to secure its future. He had no interest in democracy or legality, other than as a façade, and at the earliest opportunity he used the 'Reichstag Fire' (when the German parliamentary building was attacked by arsonists) as an excuse to suspend the civil rights of the German people (see next entry). The last 'free' election in Germany for many years was held in March 1933, in an atmosphere of violent intimidation, and even then the Nazis got only 43 per cent of the vote. Soon afterwards Hitler created a one-party state by brutally suppressing rival political organisations.
