10^2 = 100 {10 x 10 = 100}
10^3 = 1000 {10 x 10 x 10 = 1,000}
10^4 = 10000 {10 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 10,000}

The exponent represents how many zeros will be used in the answer. For example, 10^6 would include 6 zeros in it’s answer; 1,000,000.
