<span>Washington and Oregon receive much more of their electricity through hydroelectric means than would the Great Plains. These two states have numerous rivers that flow through it, allowing for it to be converted to electricity much easier than in the Midwest, which has much fewer rivers and smaller elevation changes that would make such conversions easier.</span>
