Initially quantity of modelling clay Mrs. Lia had =12 pounds

If she divides them into 1/2 pounds she will be having 24 blocks of half pound modelling clay.

Now out of these 24 half pound blocks she sets aside 6 .

Rest she gave to her art class.

Number of half pound blocks she gave to her art class = total number of half pound blocks - blocks she kept aside = 24 -6 =18

Answer : Mrs. Lia gave 18 blocks of half pound clay to her class.

Alina [70]
In this problem, it is given that the greater number is represented by x. With this, the smaller number which is 9 less than the greater number may be represented by x - 9. The product of the two numbers is 713 and may be expressed as

                                           (x)(x -9) = 713

The equation above is the answer to the problem.

Can someone help me it’s due today
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

C

Step-by-step explanation:

So if x is the number, then 4 times the number would be 4x and adding that to -8 would be 4x + (-8) and then 12 times the number would be 12x, so you have 4x + (-8) = 12.

Then, solve:

4x - 8 = 12x\\

subtract 4x from both sides

-8 = 8x

divide both sides by 8

-1 = x \\x = -1

For BRAINLIEST:Finding Critical points & Extreme values. #47 & #61 Please provide a clear explanation that is understand
almond37 [142]
Start with #47.  To find the critical values, you must differentiate this function.  x times (4-x)^3 is a product, so use the product rule.  The derivative comes out to f '(x) = x*3*(4-x)^2*(-1) + (4-x)^3*1 = (4-x)^2 [-3x + 4-x]
Factoring this, f '(x) = (4-x)^2 [-3x+4-x]
Set this derivative equal to zero (0) and solve for the "critical values," which are the roots of   f '(x) = (4-x)^2 [-3x+4-x].  (4-x)^2=0 produces the "cv" x=4.
[-3x+ (4-x)] = 0 produces the "cv" x=1.   Thus, the "cv" are {4,1}.

Evaluate the given function at x: {4,1}.  For example, if x=1, f(1)=(1)(4-1)^3, or 2^3, or 8.  Thus, one of the extreme values is (1,8).
