The narrator tries to reflect the difference in the lifestyle of  Mexico and United States.The narrator likes the social life of Mexico when she mentions in the passage that she used to go out for grocery shopping almost everyday in mexico and used to love chit-chatting with the grocery shop merchants ,the neighbors about the smell,color and taste of the fruit but in USA she is missing all these thing she feels the lifestyle is frozen like the frozen food every body is  busy with its life and they don't have time to interact with each other.
