The number of student tickets sold is half the total plus half the difference:
  student tickets = (603 +53)/2 = 656/2 = 328

The number of adult tickets is 53 fewer, 275.

Answer: 275 tickets

Explanation:
Let S = the number of student tickets and A = the number of adult tickets.
Since only adult and student tickets exist, then you know that all of the 603 tickets have to be those. This means that A + S = 603.
Since you know that 53 more of S was sold than A, A + 53 = S.
You substitute (A + 53) for S in the equation A + S = 603 and get the equation A + A + 53 = 603.
This means 2A = 550.
A = 275.
Plus A back into the equation where A + 53 = S to find that S = 328.

Must the difference between two rational numbers be a rational number? Explain
Alona [7]

Claim: The difference between two rational numbers always is a rational number

Proof: You have a/b - c/d with a,b,c,d being integers and b,d not equal to 0.

Then:

a/b - c/d ----> ad/bd - bc/bd -----> (ad - bc)/bd

Since ad, bc, and bd are integers since integers are closed under the operation of multiplication and ad-bc is an integer since integers are closed under the operation of subtraction, then (ad-bc)/bd is a rational number since it is in the form of 1 integer divided by another and the denominator is not eqaul to 0 since b and d were not equal to 0. Thus a/b - c/d is a rational number.

If you put it in slope intercept form, you will have: y \geq -2x+c.

If you converted the format, you could also have: 2x+y \geq 1.

The rest of the choices are a different graph.
