Manifest Destiny was this idea that Americans should expand and move and own all the land between Alatanic Ocean and Pacific Ocean.  Some long terms effects were, Native Americans kept getting shoved around.  Mexicans were in the way, so Mexican - American War (War for Texas, California, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah.  

Manifest Destiny also pushed for USA to go into Canada.  Hence 54 - 40 or fight with President Polk.  Read more in your text book for answers.  Enjoy.

Four changes that were ocurring in the U.S cities between 1850 and 1900 were:

1. There was a lot of <u>migration</u> to big cities.  Cities grew enormously because of migration.  For example, after the Civil War, Afro Americans migrated to northern cities trying to avoid extreme racism in the south.

2. Development of <u>railroads</u> and trains, there were new railroad lines.  There was a development of steel mining, steel was used to construct the new railroads.

3. <u>Architecture</u> changed because most new structures were made out of steel. The city's landscape changed considerably, many new buildings were built.

4. Development of <u>industry</u>, particularly steel.  Cities started being populated by industrial workers.
