as you already know, we start off by doing a quick switcheroo on the variables, and then we solve for y to get the inverse,

\bf y=x^2+4\implies \stackrel{switcheroo}{x = y^2+4}\implies x-4=y^2\implies \pm\sqrt{x-4}=\stackrel{f^{-1}(x)}{y}

and if you run a vertical line test on that expression, you'll find that it doesn't pass it, meaning is not a function.

X^2=y-4
x= +-√y-4 so f(x)=+-√x-4 it s not a function because squaring is not invertible you just showed what inverse should of the function x^2+4 "should " look like

√ x-4 >=0 and
-√x-4 is not >=0 and y= √x-4 and -√x-4 is not equal to √x-4 these are just possible values but only the first one could be a function

Why is the answer to this integral's denominator have 1+pi^2
ss7ja [257]

It comes from integrating by parts twice. Let

I = \displaystyle \int e^n \sin(\pi n) \, dn

Recall the IBP formula,

\displaystyle \int u \, dv = uv - \int v \, du

Let

u = \sin(\pi n) \implies du = \pi \cos(\pi n) \, dn

dv = e^n \, dn \implies v = e^n

Then

\displaystyle I = e^n \sin(\pi n) - \pi \int e^n \cos(\pi n) \, dn

Apply IBP once more, with

u = \cos(\pi n) \implies du = -\pi \sin(\pi n) \, dn

dv = e^n \, dn \implies v = e^n

Notice that the ∫ v du term contains the original integral, so that

\displaystyle I = e^n \sin(\pi n) - \pi \left(e^n \cos(\pi n) + \pi \int e^n \sin(\pi n) \, dn\right)

\displaystyle I = \left(\sin(\pi n) - \pi \cos(\pi n)\right) e^n - \pi^2 I

\displaystyle (1 + \pi^2) I = \left(\sin(\pi n) - \pi \cos(\pi n)\right) e^n

\implies \displaystyle I = \frac{\left(\sin(\pi n) - \pi \cos(\pi n)\right) e^n}{1+\pi^2} + C

What does "n" equal in N+2n+20-4=12+3n?
stira [4]
N+2n+20-4=12+3n
3n+20-4-12=12-12+3n
3n+4=3n
3n/3 + 4= 3n/3
n+4=n
n+4-4=n-4
n=n-4

theres no further simplification, unless i messed up ...

a computer and printer a totoal cost $1132 the cost of the computer is three times the cost of the ptinter
zavuch27 [327]
Use a system of equations

C+P=1132
3P=C

Substitute C in first equation as
3P+P=1132
Simplify
4P=1132
Solve
P=1132/4
P=283

NOW SOLVE FOR C SUBSTITUTING P VALUE IN FIRST EQUATION

C+283=1132
C=1132-283
C=849

Printer = 283$
Computer = 849$
