Stalin feared they might spread ideas that went against the Soviet government so he persecuted them.

During Joseph Stalin's regime, a campaign of political repression was carried out so that numerous writers, scholars, scientists, landlords, government officials, counter-revolutionaries and anyone who opposed Stalin's rule or the Communist Party were prosecuted and purged.

Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin was a Georgian revolutionary and Soviet politician.

Wha strategy does the author of the essay reading shakespeare suggest will help you understand difficult lines in shakespeares p
aev [14]
By 'author of the essay reading Shakespeare' do you mean us readers?
As, I'm currently doing right try and read classical novels like 'How to kill a mockingbird'. There's no need to rush if it's the first time reading, the more you read (or few of classicals) you will kind off get what the author is making the character speaking. Also understanding the aspect of the story. :)

Why is Macbeth both excited and fearful after hearing the witches' prediction about his future?
ycow [4]
Macbeth is fearful about hearing the witches prediction about his future because killing the king was considered sinful so therefore he would be a sinner however he was excited about the prediction of his future because he would be a king meaning he would gain power.
