One of the most significant similarities he finds is the belief in the capitalist system. He talks about how many of the presidents had a strong belief in the idea of private property, economic individualism, and the value of competition.Along with this, he talks about how America's political tradition is largely rooted in nationalism, as America has a tendency to see our structure of government and lifestyle as one that is superior in comparison to other countries.
