Part a.

Based on these two facts

  • Angle ABC = angle DEC (due to the same angle arc markings)
  • Angle ACB = angle DCE (since vertical angles are congruent)

This means the triangles are similar through the AA (angle angle) similarity postulate.

One similarity statement would be \triangle ABC \sim \triangle DEC

The order of the letters of D,E,C is based on A,B,C so that the corresponding congruent angles pair up. A pairs with D, B pairs with E, C pairs with itself.

=============================================================

Part b.

Similar to part a. These two triangles are similar because

  • Angle VXW = Angle ZXY (vertical angles)
  • Angle WVX = Angle YZX (alternate interior angles)

So again we are using the AA similarity postulate.

The alternate interior angles are only congruent because of the parallel lines WV and YZ

One similarity statement would be \triangle VWX \sim \triangle ZYX

Again, order matters.

A class of 222 students went on a field trip. They took 9 vehicles, some cars and some me buses. find the number of cars and the
dusya [7]

Answer:

There were 3 cars and 9 buses used for the field trip.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of cars be x

and Number of buses be y.

Total number of vehicles used = 9

Hence,

x+y=9 \ \ \ \ equation \ 1

Also

Each Car carries students = 4

Each Bus carries students = 35

Total Students = 222

Hence,

4x+35y =222 \ \ \ \ equation \ 2

Now multiplying equation 1 by 4 we get;

4(x+y)= 4\times 9 \\4x+4y = 36 \ \ \ \ \ equation \ 3

Now Subtracting equation 3 from equation 2 we get;

4(x+y)= 4\times 9 \\[tex](4x+35y)-(4x+4y) =222-36\\4x+35y-4x-4y=186\\31y = 186\\y = \frac{186}{31} = 6

Now y = 6

∴ x + y = 9 (Given)

x + 6 = 9

x = 9 - 6

x = 3

Hence, There were 3 cars and 9 buses used for the field trip.

Type the correct answer in each box,
Klio2033 [76]

Answer:

50 miles would make the two choices equivalent (65$)

Step-by-step explanation:

Express moving: y=4/5x+25

Smith and Smith Co: y=3/5x+35

4/5x+25=3/5x+35

Subtract 25 from both sides:

4/5x=3/5x+10

Subtract 3/5x from both sides

1/5x=10

x=50

50 miles would make the two choices equivalent (65$)
