The structure 4 is cell wall which function is to protect the bacterial cell from outside environment.  Bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics due to mutation which change its features. The same type and regular use of antibiotics leads to develop resistance in the bacteria. Plasmids can be used in the production of insulin for diabetics because plasmid has the ability to produce many copies of certain genes.
