A cylindrical tank lying on its side is filled with liquid weighing 50lb/ft^3. Find the work required to pump all the liquid to

a level 1 ft above the top of the tank.The diameter of the tank is 4 feet.The depth of the tank is 10 feet. NOTE: Please remember the tank is lying on its SIDE, it's NOT upright. A hint my professor gave is that the answer should be a number multiplied by pi. I'm not really sure where my slice goes and how to set up my integral because it's not upright.

<span>You can use the fact that the work done is equivalent to finding the center of mass of the water in the tank(which is at the center of the cylindrical cross section, which is 3 ft below the level to which the liquid is pumped. Call this distance h.
You then need the total mass of the liquid, volume X density=m. This is where pi comes in!
Work needed =mgh, where g is the gravitational acceleration.</span><span>

Given that ΔABC and ΔA'B'C' are similar right triangles that share the same slope, m, on the coordinate plane. Find the equation
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

y=\frac{2}{3}x

Step-by-step explanation:

The similar triangles are drawn in the figure attached.

As shown in the figure, the smaller triangle ΔABC, and the larger triangle ΔA'B'C' share the same slope; therefore, the slope of the hypotenuse is the length of the triangle ΔA'B'C' divided by its base:

m=\dfrac{rise}{run} =\dfrac{height}{base}= \dfrac{4}{6}=\dfrac{2}{3}  \\\\ \boxed{m= \frac{2}{3}}

Therefore, the equation of the hypotenuse is

\boxed{y=\dfrac{2}{3} x}

Answer:

1057.89 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Trig time! Start with a diagram and listing out your trig functions, either mentally or on paper. SOH CAH TOA

The best trig function for this problem is likely tan:

tan84.6 = height / 100

100 * tan 84.6 = height

height = 1057.89 feet

There is a happy family consisting of 2 parents and kids. The average age of the family is 20. But if we exclude one parent whos
Nata [24]
Suppose there are n people in this family
one parent is age 40, suppose the rest of the family add up to be y years old
the average is (40+y)/n=20  =>40+y=20n
 exclude the 40-year-old parent, the sum of age is still y, the number of family is (n-1), the average is y/(n-1)=15 =>y=15n-15
substitute y=15n-15 in the first equation: 40+(15n-15)=20n
solve for n: 5n=25, n=5
there are a total of 5 people in this family, there are 3 kids.
