States based on nationality are a relatively new term because only in recent times have people started to really feel the connection with their countrymen. In the past, many people would never even leave their village, meaning they would not even know what their own country is like. </span>
This coming Friday is May 1. In normal times that day offers numerous reasons to celebrate, but the need for social distancing will make it less enjoyable this spring.
