What foreign policy did the United States adopt after World War II??

History

The most common answer to this is that the United States adopted a policy of isolationism in the years after World War I.  However, this is not strictly correct.  The true policy of isolationism did not come until the 1930s.  During the 1920s, the US adopted a foreign policy that was meant to prevent war, but one which engaged with other countries in this attempt.

There were two major events that show that this was true.  The first was the Washington Naval Conference and the treaties that arose from it.  These treaties attempted to set the sizes of the great powers’ navies.  This was meant to prevent the sort of massive arms race that helped bring WWI about.  The second of these was the Kellogg-Briand Pact.  This was a treaty signed in 1928 which committed the US and other signatories to renounce war.  In other words, this treat outlawed war.  These were efforts by the US to prevent another war, but they were not isolationist.

Isolationism only came later.  This came about particularly in the 1930s.  By then, it seemed clear that the efforts of the 1920s were not working.  Because of this, many Americans gave up on the idea of preventing war among other countries and concentrated on keeping the US from getting dragged into any wars that occurred.  This was seen most clearly in the Neutrality Acts of the 1930s.

Thus, US policy right after WWI was a policy of making treaties to prevent war.  After that seemed to fail, the US turned to isolationism.

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The correct answer is "to contrast the different living conditions for the middle and working classes."

The purpose of this source is " to contrast the different living conditions for the middle and working classes."

That is the purpose of the excerpt when it describes the following: "Middle-class professionals found it easy to get from their homes outside the city to their jobs, and back home at the end of the day. Not everyone was fortunate enough to live outside the city. Working-class immigrant families lived in the poorest parts of the city in tenement buildings.

It is true to say that tej Industrial Revolution changed people's for good or for bad.

People who lived in the rural areas of the country decided to move to the larger cities, where the big industries and factories were located. These fabrics offered jobs, although low-paid jobs to operate the machines in the factories. That attracted many people, including immigrants.

These immigrants were poor citizens from the rural areas who had to live in overcrowded spaces. These were small and unhealthy places with no ventilation, where the spread of disease was a major risk. Poverty and crime were also a consequence of this situation.

38. Which of these sparked the rise of service sector jobs in the United States?
mixas84 [53]
1. C--the automation of jobs: as technology increased manufacturing jobs were filled by technology leaving other jobs to be created. The service sector was the result of that innovation.

2. B--prosecute members of the Communist Party: The Smith Act made threats to overthrow the government illegal. Since communist is based on the overthrow of a government, this act justified the search and investigation of communists.
