Suppose that a portion of double-stranded DNA in the middle of a large gene is being transcribed by an RNA polymerase. As the po

lymerase moves through the sequence of six bases shown in the diagram below, what is the corresponding sequence of bases in the RNA that is produced?
a. Diagram of DNA showing a coding strand and a template strand. Coding strand from 3' to 5' reads C C G A G T. Template strand from 5' to 3' reads G G C T C A.
b. Enter the sequence of bases as capital letters with no spaces and no punctuation. Begin with the first base added to the growing RNA strand, and end with the last base added.

<u>Answer:</u>

CCGAGU

<u>Explanation:</u>

DNA transcription:

DNA transcription is the process through which DNA double helical strand is converted into single stranded RNA molecule.

During transcription two strands of DNA are named differently i.e Template strand and coding strand.

Template strand:

Strand from which RNA is producing is known as template strand while

Coding strand:

The strand which is opposite to the template strand is known as the coding strand. Coding strand is the DNA strand whose nucleotide sequence resembles to the RNA transcript base sequence except thymine which is replaced by uracil.

Correct Answer:

Template strand from 5' to 3' reads GGCTCA. and

In this question CCGAGT is coding strand.

RNA sequence is same as coding sequence except T which is replaced by U so sequence of RNA becomes

How could you determine the best concentration of solutes to give to a patient in need of IV fluids before you introduce the flu
natima [27]
<span>You would consider the route of administration, for sure. Is the fluid going to be introduced orally? Through an IV line? Knowing the patient's current fluid and electrolyte levels in their blood would be highly helpful. If you put hypertonic solutions in the the body orally, water will be shifted from the circulatory system into the bowel. This may help someone with fluid overload in their blood to remove some of the water from their blood. It would also help to add water to the stool in the digestive system and act as a laxative. (Osmotic saline laxatives work in this manner. If you put hypertonic solutions in an IV you will pull fluids from the interstitial space between cells as well as from the bowels to the circulatory system. This would help reduce edema. If you put hypotonic solutions in the body orally, water will shift from the digestive system to the circulatory system (and will also dilute electrolytes in the circulatory system). This method may be used to reduce electrolyte concentrations in the blood, and to hydrate the circulatory system in general. If you put hypotonic solutions in an IV you would dilute electrolytes in the circulatory system and would shift fluid to the interstitial space between cells. Isotonic is probably the best way to go if you don't want to shift fluids or change electrolyte concentrations in the circulatory / digestive system. 0.9% saline would be an example of this, and is generally the most widely-used solution for basic rehydrating someone through an IV.</span>

miskamm [114]

Within the extracellular fluid, the significant cation exists sodium and the primary anion exists chloride.

<h3>What are the various chemical properties of nutrients in the body?</h3>

Chloride exists as a significant donor to the osmotic pressure gradient between the ICF and ECF and recreates an essential part of preserving proper hydration. It functions to balance cations in the ECF, preserving the electrical neutrality of this fluid.

Chloride exists by extensive the primary anion in the extracellular fluid. Its concentration in blood plasma exists around 98.00–107.00 (mM), in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around 118.00–132.00 (mM), and in urine around 110.00–250.00 (mM); while the concentrations of bicarbonate (HCO3-), the second most abundant anion in blood exists 22.00–29.00 (mM).

Chloride exists as the predominant extracellular anion. Chloride exists as a significant donor to the osmotic pressure gradient between the ICF and ECF and recreates an essential part of preserving proper hydration. Chloride functions to balance cations in the ECF, preserving the electrical neutrality of this fluid.

*ICF = intracellular fluid

ECF = extracellular fluid
