Let green peppers = g, let red peppers = r.

g = 4r

g + r = 20

Plug in 4r for g

4r + r = 20

Simplify. Combine like terms

4r + r = 20

5r = 20

Isolate the r. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Divide 5 from both sides

5r/5 = 20/5

r = 20/5

r = 4

There are 4 red peppers.

Plug in 4 to one of the equations

g = 4r

g = 4(4)

g = 16

There are 16 green peppers.

Answer: 4 red peppers, 16 green peppers

hope this helps

a stand was selling 8 mangos for $10 at a farmers market. Keisha said,"that means we can write the ratio 10:8 or $1.25 per mango
andrey2020 [161]

Answer:

  • Keisha  is right.
  • No, only 1 ratio works

Step-by-step explanation:

  • You want the units to be dollars / mango.
  • You have 10 dollars. How many mangos can you buy and at what price. They are selling mangoes for more than a dollar each.
  • The answer should be $1.25 per mango. Think of it this way:
  • If the cost of a mango was $1.00 you would be able to get 10 of them. Do you agree? Since you can only get 8, they must be more than a dollar each.
  • The ratio can only be written in one way. 10/8 = 1.25

Answer

  • Keisha  is right.
  • No, only 1 ratio works
